mom

happy mother's day

mother's day and i have a love-hate relationship...

i love the excitement and engery from the boys. i love the looks on their faces when they get to help make breakfast and give me their gifts. i love their joy at selecting flowers at the plant sale to give to their grandma and 2 great grandmas.

but, even with all of the joy my boys bring...deep down...this day is so difficult.

i miss her so much.

i miss her smile, her laughter, the way you knew what she was thinking by looking at her eyes.

she was my best friend.

and on this day, when we are to celebrate with our mothers...i visit a cemetery.

i remember the first year like it was yesterday, not 12 years ago. that's when tom and i started the tradition of taking flowers from our yard.

everyday people say goodbye to their moms, but when it is your mom...it is completely different. there are some moments in life, when i miss her more than others. lately, i've been really wishing i could just have one more conversation with her.

so...on this day, if your mom is still with you, please hug her tight and enjoy each and every moment of this mother's day with her. and if your mom has gone on to greater adventures, may peace and love surround you today.

  2. Bless your heart - you have been on my about this day before this day. I was blessed to see the passion, pride and love that your mother had with and for you. I was blessed to watch a daughter love every minute of being that mother's daughter, wanting to please her, make her smile and love her with more than love itself...and I still see that today in you, Lisa. You are the daughter that every mother hopes for and wants. And while I only and blessedly have my Adam, I embrace YOU as the daughter I never had. I am thankful that I got to be present to experience many of those wonderful mother-daughter moments where no more love could fill a room with you and your mom. I got to watch you grow into such an amazing woman and mom - one that you must know your mother is dancing in heaven over with that deep full laughter of love and pride in you and for you. So, while we are miles apart, be proud of who you are and what you have meant and will alwsys mean to your mother. I know that you fill my heart every day of my life with so much love and joy and care - sometimes it is you - a picture of you with your beautiful smile and deep passion for life that gets me through a day - it is you that puts a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. Thank you for being the daughter, sister, mother and wife that you are - you are a jewel that glistens brightly in the crown of crowns that your mother is wearing! I love you and wish you joy as a mom to 3 amazing young men and hug you in loving hurt as we miss our moms together .... I understand.
