seasons

To everything there is a season, and
a time to every purpose under heaven:

A time to be born, and
a time to die;
a time to plant, and
a time to pluck up
that which is planted;

A time to kill, and
a time to heal;
a time to break down, and
a time to build up;

A time to weep, and
a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and
a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and
a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and
a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and
a time to lose;
a time to keep, and
a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and
a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and
a time to speak;

A time to love, and
a time to hate;
a time of war; and
a time of peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

this has been running through my mind since yesterday...it is the verse that was said at my grandma's funeral. she passed away just six short months before william. i clearly remember thinking about it two years ago...

it was such a beautiful spring day, the daffodils and tulips were blooming. birds were chirping. everything was beautiful, green, and growing. how could this have happened during this season of life and growth?

the fall. the winter. that is when people are supposed to die. when the leaves slowly fall from the trees and the grass turns brown. that is when every person i've ever been very close to has passed away...until william.
and yesterday, as we drove home from chicago, we experienced all of those seasons...

bad attempt at "live long and prosper"

and as quick as the snow came down yesterday, it was gone.

life is kind of like that. you start to adjust to it one way and then the season changes and you are forced to change with it. somedays i just wish we didn't have st. louis weather all the time...

make sure you take a moment today and tell the ones you love how special they are...

and don't forget to stop and smell the flowers...the tulips and daffodils are blooming right now.

  1. You are a precious gift in my life - you've asked that we tell someone they are special - please know that I thank God for you every single day and hold you close to my heart - you are like my own, and for that I am most thankful - Love you, Lisa, and all that you are - my precious "queen" in all ways! Bless you!
